Getting Around in Dublin

Aircoach

This private coach service runs from the airport to 18 destinations throughout the city, including the main streets in the city centre.

Coaches run every 10 - 15 minutes between 6am and midnight, then hourly from midnight until 6am.

Transfers from Dublin airport by Aircoach is included with the Dublin Pass

Train

Dublin has 2 main railway stations, both served by Irish Rail (Iarnród Éireann)

• Connolly Station on Amiens Street is on the north side of the city centre, about 1km from O'Connell Bridge and serves the North, North West and South East of Ireland
• Heuston Station on St John's Road West is about 3km west of the city centre and serves the South and West of Ireland

Bus

The main bus company in Dublin is Dublin Bus

Bus stops within the City Centre are divided into six areas:

• St. Stephen's Green Area
• Nassau Street Area
• Trinity College Area
• The Quays
• O'Connell Street Area

Fares on the bus differ depending on where you want to go. The driver will tell you how much your fare is.

If you’re planning to get the bus, make sure you have some loose change, as all services are exact fare only and the driver cannot accept euro notes or give change. 

Every accessible bus has one priority space for a wheelchair user, which may also be used for a baby buggy.

Taxi

It’s pretty easy to get a taxi in Dublin, with over 12,000 licensed taxis working the area. The only times you may have trouble is when traffic is particularly heavy or late at night during the Christmas season.

All taxis in Ireland have a large yellow and blue roof-sign and door signage.

Taxis can be hailed on the street, picked up at a taxi rank or ordered by phone. 

All taxis are metered. There will be a fares sticker on the dashboard and fare cards in the seat pockets which explain the fares.
