The Hippy Hippy Shake

The influx of artisans into Ibiza in the sixties created a unique cultural mix that can still be seen today at the weekly Hippy Markets in Es Cana. From April to October there are hundreds of stalls selling handmade jewellery, clothing, gifts and leather goods on Wednesdays at the Club Punta Arabi. Expect live music, plenty of café bars and a step back into the Island’s bohemian past.

Watch the Sun Go Down

The incredible Ibizan sunset is famed for the crowds it draws to the infamous Sunset strip in San Antonio. Revellers flock here to either the Café bars such as Café Del Mar, Mambo, Kanya and the Golden Buddha for drinks and pre-club parties or chill on the beach to watch the sun set.

• Most major shops and hypermarkets tend to be open all day and late into the evening in summer
• More traditional local shops are open from 9am – 2pm and 5pm – 8pm or 9pm on weekdays. However some shops stay open during the siesta (lunchtime)
• Banks are open from 8am - 2pm but close at weekends.

Getting around in Ibiza

Being an island, Ibiza’s pretty easy to get around and there are numerous forms of transport you can use.

Car

Car hire is plentiful in the major resorts and generally costs around £250 a week in high season for a family car.

Bus

Moped / Quad Bike

Hiring a Moped or a Quad Bike hire is cheaper than a car, but they’re but not suitable for children and in high season the roads are busy so can be dangerous to inexperienced riders.

Taxi

Taxis can be flagged down on the street and are easy to find in high season. Fares are on a meter, but it’s always safer to ask for an estimate before getting in. Fares also rise slightly after 9pm
