Top Attractions & Things To Do in London

Historical vs. Modern London

There’s no need to choose between discovering the historical or innovative side of London! You can spend a morning soaking up the splendour of the Tower of London or the grittiness of Wartime London, and the afternoon admiring the far-reaching views from the iconic Shard or London Eye.

Shopping in London

When it comes to shopping, you’re spoilt for choice with high street and designer stores aplenty on Oxford Street, the eclectic, alternative boutiques of Camden and all that’s in between. Even refreshment breaks can take place at the shops when you treat yourself to an afternoon tea. Why not – you’re in London!

London River Cruises

Round off a day of exploring or just take the weight off your feet and experience the city sights from the water on a Thames River Cruise

Family Fun in London

When kids are different ages it can be a nightmare finding something that everyone will enjoy, but the Sea Life London Aquarium is fascinating, fun and educational too (just don’t mention that bit to the kids!) – particularly if you opt for the Behind-the Scenes Tour.

Haunted London

Discover some of London’s more horrible history - follow the fiendish footsteps of Jack the Ripper, or journey deep into the famous London Dungeon.

Getting Around in London

London Underground

Known informally as “The Tube”, London’s subway system is a quick and inexpensive way to get around the city. Despite the crowds it’s pretty easy to navigate and is arguably the best way to get from one point in the city to another.

Car

  • Driving is not recommended around London unless it’s absolutely necessary – parking space is limited, traffic jams are common and traffic wardens are prolific.
  • Car rental agencies are easy to find should you need one, but considering the excellent public transport systems, driving is generally more hassle than it’s worth.

Bus

  • London’s iconic red buses have become less abundant in recent years, but there are also plenty of modern double-and single-decker buses serving the city and suburbs.
  • You’ll see more of the city getting the bus than you would on the underground, but bear in mind that journeys will probably be slower due to traffic.

Taxi

  • Another celebrated form of London transport is the city’s “Black cabs” (www.londonblackcabs.co.uk).
  • Licensed black-cab drivers undergo rigorous training and exams, and are supposed to know every street in Central London.

Bursting with life, steeped in history and awash with a variety of cultures, the choice of things to do in London make it one of Europe’s, if not the world’s, most famous cities.

England’s capital combines high-energy urban charm with green open spaces, so you have the choice whether you want to get in the middle of the action or escape to a leafy sanctuary.

It’s easy to experience the city’s past and present as both historical and uber-modern London attractions stand practically side-by-side.
