Fun & Family Time

Families are spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do in Lanzarote! Away from the beaches, Rancho Texas Theme Park is an unforgettable day out, with exotic animals and themed evening shows.

Water parks like Aquapark Costa Teguise are the perfect solution for keeping sun-worshippers and adrenaline junkies happy, and kids will jump at the chance to sail in a real submarine and see what lives beneath the surface of Lanzarote’s ocean!

Often overshadowed by neighbouring island Tenerife when it comes to nightlife, Lanzarote more than holds its own with the island’s busiest late-night bars and clubs on Avenida de las Playas in Puerto del Carmen.

More traditional nightlife can be found in the capital, Arrecife, including tapas bars, live music and salsa dancing.

Nature & Outdoors

Fancy a break from the beach? A great Atlantic Adventure awaits at the "Ajaches" Natural Park! Adventure buffs can go kayaking or snorkelling, wildlife fans have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to spot dolphins, whales and flying fish in their natural environment and kids and adults alike will love getting acquainted with the local marine life through the glass-bottom boat!

Explore the Volcanoes!

Think Lanzarote’s all about the beaches? If so you’re gravely mistaken as the island’s volcanic national parks are even more amazing than its volcanic coastline! Walk across lava flows, ascend to volcanic cones and see spectacular craters, lava tunnels, lava lakes and more, with the lunar landscape giving you the feeling of being on another planet!

Hit the Beach!

White or black sand; calm water or waves; Lanzarote has enough beach to keep every holidaymaker happy! Matagorda, just east of Puerto del Carmen, is one of the island’s largest beaches and stretches a long way to the sea, making it perfect for families with small children. Las Cucharas in Costa Teguise is popular with windsurfers and surf schools due to its windy conditions.

Getting Around in Lanzarote

Getting around Lanzarote is pretty easy as it’s a relatively small island with a good transport network. Most places of interest can be accessed by local transport and all resorts can be reached via Arrecife.
Arrecife Bus (www.arrecifebus.com) runs a frequent service around the Arrecife area, mainly to the resorts of Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.
  • Car rental offices are easy to find in Lanzarote, with both large international companies and smaller local ones.
  • Lanzarote is well-known for keeping hire car prices low and street parking is relatively easy to find, especially in Arrecife.
Taxis are easy to find in the main resorts, but as Lanzarote’s public transport system is good and car rental much cheaper, they’re normally recommended for short journeys only.

An island of year-round sunshine, golden and volcanic beaches and incredible national parks - the choice of things to do in Lanzarote make it a firm favourite for families, sun-worshippers and party animals alike!

If it’s nightlife you want, the resort of Puerto del Carmen is the place to go for late-night bars and clubs to dance 'til dawn. Playa Blanca is a great choice for families looking for fun in the sun, with lots of secluded, calm beaches to choose from.

Inland, the spectacular volcanic “lunar landscape” is one of the most popular Lanzarote attractions and a must-do adventure on a day away from the coast!
